A-Splash-Ka is a game based on the annual fish migration event, the Salmon run, created for the Fish Fest. Set in Alaska, during the summer months, you play as a Salmon who is just about to return to the river where you were born. You must navigate swimming upstream while avoiding trash and other obstacles in order to return to where you were born. 

Created for Fish Fest over the course of 7 days.

Goal

The game is very short and typically takes around 60 seconds to complete, try to finish it as quickly as possible! 

Controls

  • You can control the movement of the salmon with WASD or the arrow keys
  • Jump with the Spacebar. 

Assets Used

Browser Compatibility

  • Water shaders currently do not load in the browser, download the executable to view those
  • Audio seems to work best in non-Chromium based browsers

Fun but the jump has such a massive delay it feels impossible to use

Thanks for trying it out! Do you mean the delay between the input and the jump occurring or the total length of the jump animation?

I meant like when you hit jump it’s takes a while before you get the I frames (I think there are I frames but maybe I’m wrong lol

That's fair. I know I added a very short delay from when the animation starts to when the input is actually "registered" as a jump, since some of the frames still have the player in the water. I think overall that perhaps there are too many frames though and that the whole animation is perhaps unnecessarily long. I'll tighten things up in a future release.
